The first is our inaugural Whistler Endo Symposium Travel & Learn program, led by Dr. Joel Fransen & Dr. Michael Sha.
Hosted on the hills of Blackcomb Mountain, this trip promises to provide some Endo gems & nuggets and whisk you up to snowy Whistler Resort for a few days of downhill skiing & snowboarding, snow tubing, Scandinave Spa retreats, and Village wandering and shopping.

TOPIC: Endodontic Diagnosis
Dr. Joel Fransen

Successful treatment relies on an accurate diagnosis. This presentation will cover tips and tricks for elucidating the true pulp and periradicular status of teeth. In addition to how to attain a correct diagnosis, we will also review the relevant terms one needs to use. A number of interesting and thought-provoking cases will sharpen your diagnostic acumen and make you the diagnostic king of the mountain.

Learning Objectives

  1. Learn and understand the correct pulpal and periradicular diagnoses
  2. Learn the a systematic approach to evaluating, testing, and accurately diagnosing teeth

TOPIC: Management of Dental Trauma Injuries

Take the drama out of trauma. This session will reintroduce you to the beauty of broken teeth and how best to tackle these scheduling-destroying emergencies. You will be exposed to a systematic approach to successful treatment of these teeth along with their often anxious patients. Many modern methods & material have improved our ability to save traumatised teeth, and this session will introduce you to these new developments. 

Learning Objectives

  1. Be able to diagnosis the different types of trauma
  2. Understand the implications and treatment regimen for each type of trauma

Course Time: 8:00am – 11:00am

TOPIC: Apical Surgery
Dr. Michael Sha

Apical microsurgery is a good alternative option to teeth if either the tooth cannot be retreated or the retreatment has failed.  Case selection is very important to ensure high success rate of apicoectomy.  We will go into case selection criteria and a recipe book on how to select and ensure a successful apical surgery in your office.

Learning Objectives

  1. Know when to recommended apicoectomy (case selection)
  2. Understand the theory behind retro-prep and retro-fill (retro-filling materials will be discussed)
  3. Introduce the instruments to use to do an apical surgery in your office
